GreenState Credit Union (formerly University of Iowa Community Credit Union) was established in 1938 as the State University of Iowa Hospital Employees Credit Union. It was created to serve the staff of the University hospital. In 1966 it expanded to serve all staff, students, and alumni when it became the University of Iowa Credit Union. In 1988, the word "community" was added to the name when UICCU expanded its charter to serve residents that were not necessarily tied to the University of Iowa.
The credit union is the largest financial institution in the State of Iowa and continues to develop and enhance its services to serve its members in the best ways possible. The credit union has long been known as a forward-thinking institution that pushes its staff to be the very best and continues to develop ways to serve the communities in which it operates. The expansion to the North Liberty Financial Center will continue to push the credit union into more member-centric realms, providing much needed room for additional staff to serve the future needs of the organizations ever-growing client base.
