OAKDALE STEAM and CONDENSATE
& PIPING MATERIAL STUDY
Iowa City, IA
Axiom staff are in the process of re-designing the steam and condensate lines at the University of Iowa's Oakdale campus. These lines currently feed the shops to the West and North of the Power Plant and are in need of replacement.
In addition to the piping re-design, the mechanical team is completing a comprehensive study of condensate piping materials in order to provide a life-cycle and cost benefit analysis for University personnel. Problems with existing material failures are facilitating this study. Metallurgical qualities, costs, supply, lifecycle, maintenance and return-on-investment angles are all being investigated.
Axiom owner Rob Decker is the project lead for this effort and is working with the building services team on the overall effort. Mechanical lead, Joe Lomheim is the design-manager and piping materials expert.
