Burlington Street Dam Inspection in Iowa City

Axiom recently completed the most recent iteration of the Burlington Street Dam inspection for the University of Iowa. Axiom staff have been working on the dam for nearly a decade together. Over the years, we have refined and fine-tuned our process and enhanced the depth of analysis. Dam inspections and forensic investigations are one of the specialty services that Axiom offers – we complete a handful of these every year. We also did a comprehensive analysis of the Reasoner Dam in Humboldt, Iowa earlier this year.

The dam inspection involves investigation of a number of areas including dive inspection, underwater imagery, interior forensic evaluation of the dam interior, inspection of the steam and electrical utilities, investigation of downstream water main crossings, and other specific elements. Together, all of this information is combined into a comprehensive report for University of Iowa and Engie stakeholders.

The dam inspection is led each time by Rob Decker, who works with many members of the Structural and Survey teams to complete the overall effort. Our partner, JF Brennan, from LaCrosse, Wisconsin, is also heavily involved with every effort.
