Riceville Community Wellness & Recreation Center
New gymnasium and community wellness center.
Axiom Consultants provided integrated civil/site, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering services for the new Riceville Community Wellness & Recreation Center, working in close partnership with Emergent Architecture. This long-anticipated $3.4 million facility fulfills a decades-long vision by the Riceville Community School District to create a modern, shared space that supports school athletics and fosters community engagement. Key features include a weight room, two-lane track, multi-purpose courts, locker rooms, and gathering areas accessible to both students and the public.
Addressing the district’s longstanding need for expanded athletic facilities, the new center relieves pressure on existing gym space, which previously forced student-athletes to practice during school hours. With a dedicated facility now in place, the project promotes a healthier academic-athletic balance, providing students with greater flexibility and the community with an inclusive space for wellness and recreation. Through thoughtful design and engineering, Axiom helped deliver a transformational asset that supports both educational and public health goals.
